Project Sapphire – A Kitchen Reimagined for Real Life

Every dream kitchen has a story, and for the young, dynamic family behind Project Sapphire, it began the moment they selected their new home. Located in Rowlett, TX, this house was filled with potential—but the heart of it, the kitchen, was anything but functional. The couple, both busy professionals with a deep love for cooking and family meals, knew from the beginning that the kitchen (and primary bath) would be at the top of the remodel list.

Their vision? A high-functioning, open-concept kitchen that could handle meal prep, entertaining, and the joyful chaos of a growing family—all wrapped in an elegant, timeless design.

The 'Blue'print of a Dream

From the start, the goal was clear: remove the load-bearing posts that broke up the space and create a seamless flow into the main living area. They also wanted to incorporate a new gas line to support a dual fuel range, giving them the culinary flexibility they needed.

But, like many renovation journeys, this one came with a few hurdles.

To make the remodel possible right away, the couple chose to use a mortgage renovation loan. While it gave them the green light early on, it also added a layer of complexity—especially when it came to navigating budget constraints and funding releases. Then, midway through construction, delays with the selected contractor stretched the timeline longer than anyone anticipated. But through it all, the vision never wavered.

Crafting Sapphire

Once the structure was opened up—thanks to the removal of posts and installation of a 17-foot recessed support beam—the entire space came to life. Light now poured through the kitchen, flowing freely from one end of the room to the other. It instantly felt bigger, brighter, and more connected.

Construction Phase - Building the Pressure

Design-wise, we leaned into the warmth and richness that would make this family feel at home. Custom cabinetry in Sherwin Williams’ Naval blue added drama and depth, balanced by polished white quartz countertops with delicate veining. The Seaport Arctic White tile backsplash, laid in a classic herringbone pattern, added a subtle texture and luminous detail behind the range—now fueled by that all-important new gas line.

For the flooring, we selected large-format porcelain tiles from Arizona Tile for durability and clean continuity throughout the space. And for the perfect finishing touch, Champagne Bronze fixtures from Delta’s Broderick collection introduced a warm metallic accent that elevated the palette.

The Heart of the Home

Beyond the materials and fixtures, this kitchen was designed to work hard—and look good doing it. Smart storage solutions were tucked behind every cabinet door and drawer, offering everything from utensil organizers to docking drawers for devices. This family spends a lot of time at home, and it was important that every inch of the space served a purpose.

The End Result: Sapphire, Realized

Despite the challenges along the way, this kitchen is a gem—just like the clients who entrusted us with their vision. We call it their "sapphire diamond kitchen," and after seeing the transformation, it's easy to understand why.

What was once closed off and outdated is now a vibrant, open, and functional space that reflects not just their lifestyle—but their future.

From Concept to Completion

Much like the kitchen remodel in Project Sapphire, natural sapphires are forged through pressure, time, and transformation—emerging as something rare, refined, and resilient.
